How We Learn

​When we teach children to read, not only do we teach them to decode words using their sound and letter knowledge, we teach them to understand the meaning of the word and the words in their context.

​At Our Lady of Dolours School social / emotional learning is embedded in every school day, learning to be respectful members of our communit. We are lifelong learners who take responsibility for our learning and for our relationships with the people around us.

​We believe that goal-setting allows students to focus on specific areas for improvement in their learning. Having targeted, achievable goals builds confidence and gives children ownership of their learning journey.​

​From Prep to Year 6 our teachers give students clear directions on what they will be learning and how they know they will be successful.
